Albany foo

I found a ride to Albany post-Baitcon, which is awesome! But I've discovered that if I leave on a train from Albany on Monday it is about $30 cheaper than leaving Sunday evening.

So, I'm wondering if anyone knows someone who might be able to offer a traveler crash space for Sunday night in Albany, or if any of you can recommend somewhere to crash that would be cheap enough to not eat up that $30 savings.

If not, I guess I'll just go with the Sunday night fare. Doesn't hurt to check, though!

flavors ...

I'll be very busy this year but I'm hoping to make 1-2 flavors. Help me narrow it down - any of these sound good? edit: i've narrowed the choices a bit:

I am definately making these 2:

Hibiscus Sorbet

Strawberry Rum Ice Cream (pirates love strawberries, today's test batch was very yummy)

And I'm consider maybe 1 more ... from this list or something thrown together at the last minute

Zamboni Spumoni (repeat from years ago)

Passionfruit Ice Cream (repeat from last year)

Orange Ice Cream (or a repeat of Creamsicle Crunch from years ago)

Hawaii Five-oh! (coffee ice cream with crushed macadamias using coconut milk instead of dairy)

And, Per Ice Cream Crew request, I will be sure that these now-standard vegan/non-dairy options w/ coconut milk & coconut cream are available:

Banana Knock-Knock

Chocolate-Chocolate Chip

Flowers

We have some dried lavender, dried roses, candied rose petals, and candied violet petals. Suggestions? We have no great quantity of any of them, but enough to flavor a few batches.

Baking for Baitcon...

Sounds sort of like a fund raiser doesn't it?

Just finished baking six loaves of bread for Baitcon. As soon as they cool they will join the ten loaves already in my freezer. 16 loaves, that's eight loaves for each days breakfast.

The Tally:

4 - Pumpkin Bread w/ raisins and walnuts
4 - Chocolate Banana Bread
2 - Zucchini Bread w/raisins and walnuts
2 - Mango Bread - w/raisins
2 - Cranberry Bread w/orange, raisins and pecans
2 - Apple-Raisin Bread

Current plan for premade frozen mixes: (between the two of us)

Cranberry Sorbet
Mandarin Ginger sorbet
Butterscotch Banana ice cream
Chocolate Orange Espresso ice cream
Chocolate ice
Honey Vanilla ice cream

Maybe a grapefruit sorbet, or a chocolate custard base to add something else to once there. Much depends on how much time I can make to spend on pre-prep. but something like a custard can and should be done at home and refrigerated before. Just add the last bit of cream once there.

I am thinking of bringing the stuff to try an apple pie ice cream or Ligonberry sorbet and if we need more flavors, I can throw it together last minute.

Anyone can feel free to email me if you have any questions about pre-prep of flavors or how to make something in particular. I'll do my best to help.

Oh and JB, you can let Judy know I'll be available to help with breakfast as usual.
