update on the deathly hallows.

this is just cut and paste from a note I wrote last week for myself. If I missed anyone piping up, please note.

the book is coming in cases of 10 books (normally books show in cases of about 20-25, and we were expecting that, but I guess since they're bigger, and since they're shipping so many, they've gone with a smaller #). I think it's obvious we'll be able to do at least one here. Because of cash issues, Tyler suggested that people can pre-pay at the store or by paypal, so I'm not having to make change in the woods or carry $400 around with me.

Tyler says because of the smaller boxes, the first one is guaranteed; these 6 and 4 more people can get copies at Baitcon (and I'd prefer that, since if I'm bringing 10, I'd really rather not carry 5 back!). If there is further interest for a second group (once we get 4 more), we'll know early the week of release if you're getting them, based on pre-orders at the store (the store is getting 90 for opening).

I will find out what the final price is, and I'll let you know how much to send that way; paying in person is cheaper for us if you can (paypal fees). I work 12-6 every sunday, which would be clearest, but sending me (thespian at sleepingcat dotcom) mail with the name that you use on pandemonium's pre-order/frequent buyer system after making the payment will also work, I can look up that the payments have been made that way, too.

we usually have some. You can call first, but it seems likely; I think it's been a while since we've done a recycling centre run. We're also expecting an Alliance order, either having come on Thursday or tomorrow, and that means lots of packing peanuts, too, if you want.

I am confused. Is this an updated Baitcon cookbook or is it something

Nooooo.... No Baitcon cookbooks... Not yet, give me a couple more years before I try to do it again! If I try to do it again. I got a bunch of complaints about the pictures, that I didn't ask the people in them if I could use them. I asked the people who took them if I could use them. But a few people gave me grief about having their pictures in the book. Same people who complained that I had their pictures in my photo albums and after I took them out complained a year later that there were no pictures of them. Can't win.

It's the new Harry Potter being released on Baitcon weekend.

as mentioned in the title, it's for Deathly Hallows (as in Harry Potter and the). The weekend of Baitcon is also the weekend of the release, and as I work at Pandemonium Books in Cambridge, I'm offering to bring one of the SOOPER SEKRIT OPEN THIS BEFORE THE 21ST AND NEVER GET A SHIPMENT FROM INGRAM AGAIN cases down with me, since I'm authorized to, and they didn't say we couldn't distribute them in the back woods, just that if I let the box get opened before midnight on Friday, they'll kill me dead.

So rather than leave to get the book at midnight, as some people were planning on doing, there will be a limited number of copies right there at the site so they can get them there.

I am tempted to get a shirt printed for Baitcon that declares me to be the Dealer's Room ;-)
