This is about the Baitcon cookbook that has sat languishing on my desk for the last year, no I haven't touched it in over a year. I pulled it out this morning to look at what I could do to it. It is still pretty slim on recipes, we could use more. I could use more pictures, I do have permission to use some of the ones other people have taken, but mostly I have mine.
Some of you may have seen a smaller version, (half size sheets) at the last Baitcon (2003) in a small white notebook. That copy was just a sample of what I was thinking of doing. Now I am planning on going to full size pages (8.5 x 11). And comb binding it with laminated covers.
I now own a comb binding machine. So technically after to cost of paper and ink (colored ink is so darn expensive and if I'm putting pictures in the book, I want color) for printing and the combs it wont cost the extra to punch and bind it. (usually around $1.50 per book) (we know this because we just made 30 songbooks and did all the research on cost of printing and binding. it was cheaper in the long run to buy the binding machine, cost to do the punching was like .03 a page! ouch!) I would like to laminate the covers, cost of laminating film isn't bad and borrowing a laminator is a possibility if I don't buy one before then.
There is the possibility of doing both paper and CD versions of this cookbook. Yes I can burn it to CD, no problem(in fact I could actually burn CD's for people *at* baitcon if necessary as long as I know before hand to bring the computer.) The cost we could sell them for can be figured later, I would just like to get back my costs (paper, ink, binder combs, laminating film, CD's) any monies beyond that go towards running baitcon. I would estimate $10 each would not be unreasonable. I will keep detailed receipts.
I really would like to see this project get off the ground.
