Baitcon XVIII is now just six weeks away! If you are planning on attending but haven't yet RSVP'd, you may want to consider dropping us a line soon because after June 20th, the rates will rise. Comments and/or discussion here on LJ or on IRC or even in person are generally NOT considered RSVPs.

The website was updated this evening - the rideboard is up, the lodging page has been updated and there are some pictures of the new site (though not the map or big overview as of yet). www.baitcon.org

The next website update will happen around June 23rd and will include information about what to bring, logistics, weather forecast link, tentative menus and hopefully some info about a few cool things we're going to have happening during the weekend.

If you have spare carpet pieces to donate and/or solar-powered path lanterns (the type for driveways or backyards) that you would be willing loan us, please contact Kimberly.

As usual, if you have questions, please feel free to contact us.

Hope to see you there!

I'm looking to see if anyone else has weird time-conflicts that might complement mine.

It turns out I have an awkward conflict with Baitcon this year that, if I am to honor it, would require that I be back in Boston by about 3pm Saturday. I'm thinking of many ways this might work.

-It's possible (though admittedly kind of insane) that I could come back for my Saturday evening event, then *return* to the con, but I wouldn't want to do the extra round trip in my mini-van. My mini-van has lots of people/cargo space and gets poor gas-mileage. I could drive someone's stuff down, and drive their fuel-efficient car back for the round-trip, for instance.
OR
-Maybe there's someone who wants to go, but can't get out of Boston until Saturday evening, and would ride back down with me.
OR
-I could just go for the one night, but then either [livejournal.com profile] palmwiz would need a ride back, or he would ride his bike back and his stuff would need a ride back.

Anyone have any transportation needs that dovetail with any of this in an interesting and helpful way?

Baitcon 18!
Friday, July 20th-Sunday, July 22th 2007
Mountain Campground @ The Abode
New Lebanon, New York

Yes, this is a change from the previously-announced date. We are sorry about that but know that it was engineered via popular demand. We announced shortly *before* the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival had posted their 2007 dates for the same weekend (7/27-7/29) and many of you contacted us requesting that we not hold Baitcon in direct conflict with FRFF. Hence, the new CONFIRMED date of July 20-22, 2007.

The official invitation will go out on or before April 15th. PLEASE, PLEASE hold your RSVPs, questions and requests until the invite has been posted.

The website has been updated with some answers to basic questions for now. The invite will have all the usual details about the event and the new site, so have patience and spent the next two months perhaps thinking of strange and delicious new ice cream recipes. The new site does feature outdoor (enclosed) showers and toilets, fire pits, a tented pavilion with dance platform and PA-system, plenty of space for tents, some rustic cabins, a detached kitchen, screened-in dining room and a lovely pond and stream for swimming.

We're really excited and we hope to see you there! Stay tuned for the invite and details later this spring.
