Notes on The Abode

Hi folks-

As some of you know, I help with SpiritFire, which is held at the Abode every summer. I went up to the Abode last month to do some SpiritFire prep. We took GPS readings and made a scale map, which I've posted in my Flickr account here.

Here are some suggestions to help you have a more comfortable weekend and get settled when you arrive. I can only speak to how we've done things at SpiritFire. I'm not involved with Baitcon planning and don't know how they'll organize things. This is only a preview. ( Details... )

hibiscus

I just received a bunch of dried (food-grade) Hibiscus flowers and flower-water.
It is very tempting to push off the Roasted Cinnamon Ice Cream I'd been planning and try a Hibiscus & white tea sorbet. I probably don't have enough time to pull that together though ...

Upon request, I'm repeating the Chocolate-Chocolate-Chip that uses only coconut milk&cream for the base and thus offers another vegan option in addition to flavors that use soy bases.

From the pictures istemi posted, it looks like the site is relatively level and scooter-friendly. Yay. I'm mildly concerned about the 1/2-mile one-lane road mentioned in the email - is it possible to have someone drive me closer to the site to drop me off, or are you trying to discourage people from using it?

Unrelatedly, I have offered Marc an enormogigantic bag of Splenda which he says he can try to something with. Posting here in case there are others who might appreciate sugar-free flavors :).

While halleycomet picks up the farmshares, I'm waiting for the plumber and my sister to arrive (separately of course!), so I guess it must be time to make more test batches for Baitcon! ( Crysanthemum version 2 )
