Some additional info ahead of Baitcon28:LN2 is Also a Factor (the one true subtitle that I love - thanks to blk)
First, I want to give a shout of deep thanks to the incredible folks of BCC this year who work so hard before/during/after the event. Allison,Tamar, seph, Katherine, Hobbit, corwin, Kate, Dr. Jen, Phil-the-Bald, Seain, Terry, Jessica, Derek, Marc, Scott, LizO, Anne T., and Sam as well as Barb, Jim, Andy, Paul, Sonja, Ken, Eric., Susan, Kristin and the Abode folks. THANK YOU to these wonderful folks!
Thank YOU! Everyone who shows up to frolic, make ice cream, play, sing, dance, stargazing, walk the labyrinth, explore and/or volunteers to help us set-up, make food, serve food, help folks make tasty ice cream, wash dishes, facilitate parking/mountain traffic, tend the fire, play music, call dances, prep for serving so much delicious ice cream, pack-up, etc. THANK YOU!
Kids Ice Cream Social can happen on Sunday afternoon *if* we have a parent to help JB set up for it and run it. Any volunteers? Email me directly (username at gmail) or info dash 2018 at baitcon dot org before Thursday night!
We will have big jugs of Picardin lotion for attendee use and we recommend wearing your socks *over* your pants along with daily tick checks. If you find a tick/tick bite, feel free to see our medical folks for help/advice. They are Dr. Jen, Nurse Derek, Nurse Jessica, and Phil-the-Bald and they'll be wearing badges and/or we can help you locate one of them. The med tent is off-limits to all but staff and patients (and parents/partners/person of patients).
It might be hot. Remember to drink water! We are pondering bringing and filling a few small kiddie pools. If you/your frolic in or near those, please remember that YOU are responsible for your safety and the safety of your kids at all times including but not limited to when they are near/in water, around the fire/fire circle hiking, down near the labyrinth/sancutary/chimes/bridge-to-nowhere, etc.. And please, please, please do not complain to me if kids start splashing. They are kids and splashing is fun.
I'm supplying some things for Smore's on Friday night, however, my local TJ's is currently sold out of vegan marshmallows. If you want/need those, please bring them as I'm unlikely to get a chance to drive around to other TJ's.
Dr. Jen & I are also supplying some posterboard for sign-making (for the Families Belong Together event in Pittsfield that some of us will attend on Saturday) and I'll also bring construction paper/markers for making cards to send to kids who are being detained. Supercub is donating his sticker collection too. Cards can be collected and I'll mail them if you like - see Laurie's FB post for more info.
If you know (when you arrive at Baitcon) that you'll want to drive your own car to the Families Belong Together event on Saturday, please a) tell the parking folks that so they can direct you to the easiest place for in/out parking and b) consider offering rides in your vehicle via the sign-up sheet we will have posted in the welcome tent.
If you're new to Baitcon, feel free to ask anyone with a badge for help or advice at any time! And our frequent attendees are usually friendly and helpful too!
There are two huts-under-construction that the SpiritFire group is building. Please do not disturb these areas - they are not ready for use and they are not safe for play/exploration.
One of us will be answering Baitcon email & checking DW/FB through Thursday if you have questions ... see you on Friday after 2p.!
