Normally I wouldn't use this community for advertising, but the drums we used this weekend were very gracously on loan from Odaiko New England, so I think this post is a small price to pay.

If you liked the taiko and are interested in trying it, Odaiko New England is having a free introductory class in Woburn tomorrow, July 1st. If you are interested please contact:

And let them know that Cat and the others who performed this weekend sent you. This will let them know that lending us drums is a good thing and help ensure they'll do so again next year.

Also let me know if you want to be on the Odaiko New england mailing lists for news about shows by the ensemble members (the people who are really good at it.) You can email info@onetaiko.org to be added.

Again, sorry to advertise, but it was really nice for them to let us take their very expensive drums up to a predicted to be rainy mountain for a whole weekend.

I was not there, but have been very interested in taiko for a while. If anyone decides to head out there from cambridge/somerville, I'd be very interested in being a mouse in your back seat.

D'oh. I would be interested in the intro class, but probably couldn't make it tomorrow. Is this something Odaiko New England does several times per year?

They will likely have another one again sometime. They've been doing it every month during the summer, but it tends to add too many new people too often, so I think they're thinking of making it every 3 months instead but haven't decided yet quite how often. I'll try to ask Mark tomorrow about when they might plan the next one.

Doh, I didn't see this in time. I went, and will be going again. I work at Tufts in Medford, so I can probably be a ride at least one way (as I live in Lowell).
