Date: 2009-12-07 09:35 pm (UTC)I believe people have experimented with chesse flavored ice creams, I know cheddar cheese is among the flavors someplace. And Ricotta cheese wouldn't be bad in ice cream.
I think an octopus showed up last year, but was scrapped because it wasn't kept properly chilled before freezing and rather than risk it having spoiled it was scrapped.
We have had a couple fish flavored ice creams in the past.
I believe a garlic ice cream or sorbet was done once... once.
And seriously, chili pepper? We have been doing habanero flavors for years.
I would likely pass on all of them, I'm a traditionalist, I prefer plain ordinary flavors like chocolate and strawberry.

I have a recipe for using yams in beer. They add fermentable sugars and some color but unless you roast them they don't add much flavor.

Chunky Fish Ice Cream was one of the favorite foods of Oscar the Grouch in a book I had as a kid. Spaghetti with Ice Cubes and Chocolate Sauce was another.
