A year ago, shortly after
turtleduck and I arrived, I was standing somewhat cold, in the rain, in the Welcome tent, I think talking with JB, when someone ran up to announce that New York State had passed Marriage Equality. I remember listening to the cheers, one after another, when the news got to the kitchen, the fireplace room, the covered tables. It was marvelous.
Just now, I'm sure the vast majority of folk are on site, and I'm somewhat wistful here at my desk at work.
But it seems absolutely fitting to learn today that Illinois announced last night they would no longer defend DOMA in court.
