Jul. 4th, 2015 07:55 pmThis year is supposed to be especially bad for deer ticks, which are the kind that transmit Lyme disease. One protection option is treating your clothing/tent/camp chair with permetherin. It's considered safe for people over the age of 2 months. Here's how I'll be treating my and my son's clothes: http://www.isd.net/~mhurwicz//tickproof/.

Date: 2015-07-05 02:10 am (UTC)(How do I know? Three years ago I found out I was pregnant the day before Baitcon. In the welcome booth I overheard people talking about using permethrin on their clothes and when I heard that it was dangerous for cats I quietly freaked out. Dr Jen kindly looked it up and clarified for me: the stuff is toxic for cats but harmless for pregnant women. Whew.)
