This year is supposed to be especially bad for deer ticks, which are the kind that transmit Lyme disease. One protection option is treating your clothing/tent/camp chair with permetherin. It's considered safe for people over the age of 2 months. Here's how I'll be treating my and my son's clothes: http://www.isd.net/~mhurwicz//tickproof/.

A further note: it's also considered safe for pregnant women to use.

(How do I know? Three years ago I found out I was pregnant the day before Baitcon. In the welcome booth I overheard people talking about using permethrin on their clothes and when I heard that it was dangerous for cats I quietly freaked out. Dr Jen kindly looked it up and clarified for me: the stuff is toxic for cats but harmless for pregnant women. Whew.)

I would assume so, but I don't know for sure. The details are a little hazy, three years later.
