Hey folks, this is my last ditch attempt since I need to purchase tickets tonightish...

I am looking for either:
(0) a ride to Rochester (or even Buffalo) after Baitcon ***preferred!
(1) crash space in Albany Sunday night
(2) crash space near Baitcon Sunday night + a ride to the Albany train station

I heard that [livejournal.com profile] wotw is traveling from Rochester, but I haven't heard back from him regarding ride-ness. :(

Anyone else I can ask?

(I'm not screwed if no one offers -- I do have a ride offer to the train station in Albany Sunday, but leaving Monday will cut the ticket price nearly in half, and likewise, leaving from Rochester would save lotsa money).

THANKS!

The CSA [livejournal.com profile] mzrowan and I signed up for started up two weeks ago, conveniently just as both of us were set to be in other states for the next week. Now that I'm home for two and a half days there's another delivery, and then it's time for Baitcon. Also, the start of the season is mostly greens, and neither of us use a lot of greens (personally, I'm in it for the tomatoes! One day later in the season, we'll be deluged with tomatoes and I'll be very happy).

I could bring a bunch of our excess greens to Baitcon, if they would be of use. Would they? Or would someone want to take some home?

One last favour to ask of you-all...

Is anyone with access to free printing going to be at their printer before they leave for BaitCon? I have a number of journal articles I need to read for an essay due Monday, but I have no access to a printer.

Current MIT students/athena users might be good candidates.

Alternatively, if anyone will have access to electric power (i.e. can charge my laptop overnight for me so that I can get a charge's worth of reading done each day), or a palm pilot I can use that reads PDFs and has a long-lasting battery life, this could work as well. :)

(I know, I know, tooling while at Baitcon is Wrong, but I have to get this done)

Help offer
So, I was originally going to make some interesting ice cream flavours, but at this point I'm thinking that if there's a dearth of basic kitchen help, and lots of people more experienced than me making ice cream flavours, then I would be of more use as a kitchen helper. I also love watching kids, and would be happy to help out with that. I've little experience with the pre-potty training phase of human development, but would like to learn to care for such children.

That being said, I do have a list in my head of possible ice cream flavours I haven't seen before that I should write down, if anyone is looking for inspiration. Here's a few of them...

Flavor ideas
-ice wine (probably with semi-dark chocolate chips)
-sweet mead ice cream
-some kind of smores ice cream where the marshmallow is burnt in a campfire and cooled before it is placed in the ice cream
-cacao nib and vanilla bean ice cream (you could use the chocolate coated nibs, or the plain ones)
-cheddar cheese ice cream (possibly with some chocolate swirls or chips... I'd recommend one of the dark Scharffen Bergers; they tend to have a fruity overtone that I suspect would go very nicely)
-vegan chocolate ice cream that is based on hazelnut milk (almond milk exists so why not hazelnut) instead of soy milk
-honeycomb chunk ice cream (apparently a lot of people find this unappetizing because of the wax -- the one time I've had honeycomb I didn't even notice the wax, so ymmv, and it might not freeze nicely)
-balsamic vinegar ice cream, using the medium quality stuff that uses the same process as the real thing but from the wrong region. Since balsamic vinegar goes so nicely with things like sharp asiago, there could be little shavings of asiago flecking the ice cream.
-alternatively, make a balsamic-based syrupy stuff to mix into the ice cream as a swirl
-chocolate with pomegranate swirl or if it were possible to acquire them, dried pomegranates (in the latter case, may go better with vanilla bean ice cream)

Cheddar Cheese
I have one small wedge of vintage (i.e. extra extra extra old) cheddar from Cheddar England which I can bring. It is up for grabs for inclusion in an ice cream flavour, OR if someone wants to contribute some other fancy cheddars and some alcohol or fruits or somesuch appropriate for pairing with old old cheddar, we could do a mini tasting thingy.
