I think we should all pitch in and buy this as a gift
for JB. It's the perfect Baitcon site. Well, except
for the location.

It would be great for a winter Baitcon site. But it looks like the set of a bad SF movie from the 70s.

At a half-million, it's a lot cheaper than I was expecting for 21 acres.

In parts of old florida you can find lots of interesting designs from the 60s-80s where people were experimenting with making hurrican resistant structures. The bubbles are common, as are modified geodesic domes, and hanger like styles. there are also some sod covered ones.

yeah, somehow I don't think people would be excited by the combo of Palmetto bugs, 100+ miles from an airport, and it being in Florida. (the only place that I think is a worse idea than South Dakota or Texas)

Bears for alligators? I'd stick with the bears.

I got to wonder if that price is a typo. If it's not, just how much of that site is Okeechobee swamp land. It's not that far from Lake Okeechobee. It may be 21 acres, but if 19 or 20 of it is swamp, it's pretty much unusable.

Indeed, that 21+ acres is less than most houses here. Of course, here is not a good comparison point for costs, but still.

Wow. And then we could hold Baitcon in February when it conflicts with far fewer things ... of course, folks probably wouldn't be able to afford airfare to get there.

May I put in a vote for a Florida location? ;-)

Hm. If people were really interested in Florida, I could suggest a number of much much better sites for winter fun.

A few in Texas, too :-P
