I was just involved in this conversation over on FriendFace. I tried to share it with Kimberly and some other folk but the original posters privacy settings wouldn't let me do
that. So I'm copy/pasting it here.

Peter Dilworth Karen, you must be thinking of Old Spice, which I have no opinion about.

Phil Servita @Dewb: No, you wouldn't. It was *terrrible*. It set the standard reference used for terrible disgusting ice cream at Baitcon for close to 20 years.

Wayne Fridrich I like Old Spice

Michael Dewberry @Phil: I have in the past proved to have highly idiosyncratic tastes when it comes to weird spice concoctions. But I believe you. What unseated it?

Phil Servita Depends on who you ask; but there have been a few contenders: Ceviche. Lobster Bisque. Chicken Liver. Among others.

thanks for sharing this.
i still maintain that Old Bay is the worst flavor ever made at a Baitcon (or certainly of the ones I tasted).
Close contenders for me: Cheddar Cheese, Ceviche, Chicken Liver, and anything involving durian. I banned uni as an ingredient option
a while back and came close to banning "spoiled milk" but luckily that person decided to make something more palatable instead.
I actually liked the Port Beet but I was in the minority on that one ...
I'll miss you this year Phil - I had a Chocolate-Corn ice cream in mind for old time's sake :)

Blueberry lobster bisque and ceviche for me...I actually kinda liked chicken liver. I'm pretty sure I could come up with an apple pie and cheddar cheese ice cream that would work, maybe involving cheez-its

How can you ban spoiled milk? That would have to include yoghurt, kefir, cheese... :-P

I remain at least a bit convinced that No-Salt Old Bay might actually work.

I don't remember why, but I'm also think that Old Bay (probably no-salt) Maple might be worthwhile.

Ceviche reluctantly won out over Old Bay for disgusting flavor and (importantly) disgusting texture. Though I rather liked the blueberry lobster bisque.

BTW, 9+ years ago, I posted this (http://kirkcudbright.livejournal.com/34315.html) about Old Bay, and I probably stand by it (if I'd ever let Old Bay pass my lips again).
