I just wanted to say hello to the zillion wonderful folks I met this past weekend, and thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put all that together.

I do not guarantee that this is error-free, but I think it's pretty close:

Hey folks. I started sneezing on Monday at Baitcon, and on the way home, I developed many more symptoms of some kind of flu/cold. So, I've got: sore throat (which was bad at first but is better now), stuffy nose, low-grade fever (up to 100), body aches, a bit of a cough, and diarrhea. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing these symptoms, and if so, how worried should we be about the possibility of H1N1? I guess I'll drag my ass in to the doctor tomorrow, but just wondering what others have experienced.

P.S. It was worth it. Ilana and I both had a great time.

one of my sleeping bags did not make it either home or to Baitcon Lost-n-found. It was a puffy red Coleman inside a black bag

Seen it?

We forgot a canvas bag (labeled Tufts, I think) of games in the living room. All were labeled with our names in masking tape on the boxes - "Go Away Monster", "bang!", "Web of Power", and "Royal Turf". Did it come back to Somerville by any chance?

I come by this naturally. Which might be scary.

[15:54] stephanieclarkson: one of the things about this event is at night everyone makes a small thing of ice cream, and we all try some. there were 120 flavours over 2 nights, but over 200 people, so basically everyone gets a bowl of wee little scoops :-)
[15:54] joan_clarkson: what did you make
[15:54] stephanieclarkson: I made 'Nanaimo Bar'
[15:54] joan_clarkson: your father's favourite treat
[15:55] stephanieclarkson: a frozen custard, and then i made a sheet of the chocolate topping, and crackled it up and mixed it and small chunks of the cookie base in.
[15:56] joan_clarkson: how did it go over
[15:57] stephanieclarkson: really well. 7 people voted for it as 'Best Flavour', which considering almost none of the people present knew what a Nanaimo Bar *was* is pretty good :-)
[15:57] joan_clarkson: good for you for representing Canada.

[15:57] stephanieclarkson: some of the flavours are pretty out there. There was a Lobster Blueberry one, made out of, I think, bisque and berries.
[15:58] joan_clarkson: yuck.
[15:58] joan_clarkson: well maybe you can keep the Canadian thing going, and make butter tart ice cream. Or if they insist on eating gross things, you could make poutine. Make the gravy into a topping. Like that stuff they dip the cones in at Dairy Queen.

---

I had already decided on butter tart for next year. And considered poutine this year, though I had told JB at Beginning of Summer that I was thinking of a caramel-style swirl for the gravy, and using potato sticks as jimmies, sprinkled on top.
