Okay, what's with always having Baitcon in the rain, huh? I'd really like to get to go to a Baitcon where it was sunny all weekend. Its been 4 years now and still not a single one without the rain.

I'll note that the chances are 30% for rain on Saturday, which is down from the earlier forcast.

Hey BTW, could you and the set-up crew use extram hands earlier on friday than the posted arrival time? Halleyscomet and I will be taking off Thursday, spending the night in NoHo, then will be at loose ends till we arrive on Friday. If the extra help is wanted, we'd be happy to show up early and direct traffic or help build, organize, whatever....

Ditto this for Sunday into Monday. We don't have specific plans yet other than that we need to get home by Monday night.

Ditto here. Part of why I needed to drive up in my car was that I'm visiting with a family friend who's about half an hour from the old site. But b/c of impending travel on her part she's really only up for a visitor for one night - at the moment she's expecting me Sunday evening and that I'll leave Monday (which could let me offer a BC/Camberville ride for any in BCC who might need) but would be just as fine with Monday evening to leave Tuesday.

BTW, any odea what's going on with mail bouncing from the icecream@ address? I've sent mail twice now and found out today that it has bounced. (Yes, I did add the appropriate 2007 to the address.)

Huh? It was definitely sunny at the last Baitcon (2005). There may have been some rain but by and large the weather was great.

2003, now the weather that year was the pits. :-)

As I recall, 17 had PERFECT weather, and a fair number of past years had really good weather, if not perfect. 16, indeed, sucked, though we still had a good time. :)

Not sayin' a good time can't be had in the rain *winkwinknudgenudge* But I'm a happier camper, literally and figuratively, without the rain. Arthritis means that damp weather makes me stiff. And sleeping on an air mattress while arthritis is making me stiff makes my movements look like I'm at least 3 times my real age.

Okay, I promise I'm done whinging now.

The temperatures look perfect otherwise. And I plan to have a damned good time!

Yeh, seriously, scattered showers usually means that it will be bright and sunny for all but 30 minutes of the day, if that. Sheesh, you'd think the forecast said "100% chance rain, heavy at times," not "Partly cloudy with ISOLATED thunderstorms." It'll be fine.

rarh, this could make geocaching a little dicey. Not only do you have the mechanical disadvantes of being/getting wet, but GPSen have trouble locking onto satellites under overcast skies.

thanx for postng the report.

lows in the mid 50s? eagh.
;is so very unprepared at the moment. does seam sealing have to be done every year? i live in an apartment, which makes setting up a tent and sealing and stuff . . . cumbersome.;

Seam sealing doesn't have to be done every year. If you've done it in the past 3 years and the tent was dry when it got packed, then you should be fine. If not, you can buy seam sealant and apply it when you errect your tent upon arrival. Just make sure to leave all the flaps open for the couple hours after that so the sealant dries and ventilates properly.

Look at the bright side: it won't be oppressively hot and humid, with lots of sunburnt people to deal with. And the Ice Cream will last longer before it melts!

Hint: people should bring Large Trash Bags to their tents. When you're not using your tent, toss all your sleeping gear (blankets/pillows/sleeping bags) as well as your clothes backpack/luggage inside a Large Trash Bag. Just In Case you're away from the tent and there's a big deluge and your tent gets damp, either from a leak in the top or a puddle below. When you return to the tent, check the floor for puddles before re-setting up the bedding.
